DMCA and Takedown Requests
SnapStories stores no media, so there is no file for us to delete. What we can do — and do immediately on a valid notice — is block an account so the tool refuses to resolve it at all. That block takes effect at the edge within minutes and applies worldwide.
What a valid notice must contain
Your physical or electronic signature. Identification of the work you claim is infringed. The Snapchat username the content appears under. Your name, address, telephone number and email address. A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
Where to send it
Email the notice to dmca@snapstories.io. A notice missing any element above cannot be acted on, and we will reply saying which part is missing rather than ignoring it.
What happens next
A complete notice results in the account being added to our blocklist, after which every request for it returns a refusal instead of content. We record the notice itself so repeated claims can be recognised. We do not record who searched for what.
Counter-notice
If your account was blocked and you believe the claim was mistaken, email dmca@snapstories.io with your signature, the username blocked, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the block was a mistake or misidentification, and your contact details. We will pass it to the complainant and may restore access.
Misuse of this process
A takedown notice removes an account for everyone, so filing one for content you do not own is not a neutral act. Knowingly false claims carry liability for damages, and we keep the notices we receive.
